Wow - loved the selection and the quality of the gelato from Messina. I had a double scoop in a cup. The coconut lychee was amazing (very tropical, light, and rich at the same time). So GOOD!! Can't wait to go back in a few days and get it again. The coffee was awesome as well.
Highly recommend. -

Just when you think you had amazing, Messina takes it to a whole nother level. I've been to places where I thought I had amazing gelato but this is my #1. We came after walking around Circular Quay and was told this was a must. Though it was chilly that day that didn't stop us. The line were out the door of the shopping area so you know there's a reason to that. The line goes by fast so don't let that deter you away from trying the amazing goodness.
There's different flavors of gelato and even sorbet (hooray for my fellow lactose friends). Flavors consist of your typical classic like chocolate vanilla to extravagant flavors like salted coconut with mango salsa, boysenberry, pandan, and more. During our stay in Sydney we came here multiple times. Gelato is very rich and even the sorbet had a smooth consistency. There were even times where I thought I was eating dairy. It was that good.
My by far favorite was the salted coconut with mango salsa sorbet. Sounds gross? That's what I thought but boy was I wrong. If you're not sure what to get then you can always ask to sample. Prices range from $4.80 AUD to $6 AUD depending on your portions which is reasonable consider what you're getting. You're basically getting the good stuff. Nothing more simple than that. I wish we had one back home but until next time. -

Really a wonderful treat. High quality but also some wonderfully insane flavors! Loved the Nicky Glasses which is a combination of Coffee and Salted Carmel ice cream. An ingenious flavor combination with unfortunate name. Hokey Pokey was fun but the sweet candy is in a sweet vanilla making it... too sweet for me.

This is a great local gelato place in Circular Quay. We stopped here a couple times after dinner for a sweet treat. I am dairy free so a lot of places not always have a lot of options. This place did. At least 8 or 10 dairy free sorbet options.
I had the salted caramel and mango salsa both times we stopped. It has a nice caramel flavor with a bit of fruit from the mango. Very tasty.
I would love to do one of their decorative cakes at some point. They are beautiful creations of architecture. Check them out. -

As we say goodbye to the warm Summer nights and enter into the cooler Autumn evening, we thought we'd enjoy one last chance to have ice cream and where better than the legendary Messina at Circular Quay.
A tiny little ice cream parlour with outside seating. They have utilized their space amazingly and provide a great range of gelato and ice cream from classics flavours to daring ones that you'll be begging to try.
I went with a scoop of Chocolate and a scoop of Mr. Potato Head (peanuts and potato chips) in an attempt to make a Reeces Pieces inspired ice cream blend. It kind of worked out, but the Mr. Potato Head flavour did have pieces of potato chip mixed in with it which did lead me to a very strange place at times.
The service is great and you'll spend your time trying to decide which flavours to choose, which is where the fun is in my opinion. You're choice of cone or cup, you can't go wrong.
